The registry will validate this requirement at the time off registration application and if not fulfilled, the registration will fail.
2) The two required name servers that are authoritative for the domain name must be active at the time of registration and on different subnets. If this is not the case, the order will complete, however there will be a 30-day window in which you must update your name servers. If this is not done, the registry will delete the domain name, and refunds will not be given. The nameservers associated with the domain name at the time of the order cannot be changed during the 30-day window.

2.- Rules for the assignment of a regular domain name
2.1.-Assignment of a regular domain name will be to Spanish or foreign natural persons with legal residency in Spain and organisations with their own legal personality constituted according to Spanish Law, registered with the corresponding Public Spanish Register (Registro Público Español).
2.2.-Entities without distinct legal personality such as branches, departments, local offices, secretary's offices, council offices, town councils or any other part of an organisation cannot be assigned a domain name and will have to register under the domain name already assigned to the whole organisation to which they belong to with the exception of what is contemplated in the next section.
2.3.-Notwithstanding what is envisaged in the aforementioned sections, the first branch of a foreign organisation legally constituted and registered in the Spanish Mercantile Register, the Ministerial Departments of the General Administration and the Autonomous Communities Councils will qualify for assignment of a regular domain name.

a. The personal name of an individual. Any person can register his or her own personal name. Further, a parent may register the Personal Name of his/her child, provided that the registration is in the name of the child. The same applies to names given as gifts (e.g. personal birthday gifts or from an employer to an employee). All registrations must remain in the name of the rightful owner of the domain.
b. The name of a fictional character. Any individual or entity can register a Personal Name of a fictional character if that individual or entity has trademark or service mark rights to that name. This allows certain fictitious names to maintain a .name presence alongside individuals.
c. Additional characters. Registrants may add numeric characters to the beginning or end of a Personal Name to differentiate it from other Personal Names. For instance, if john.smith.name is already registered, an eligible registrant may opt to purchase john5.smith.name or john.smith5.name.

The first registration period in April 2002 is the Sunrise period.
The Sunrise period is exclusive to owners of existing or pending U.S. trademarks prior to the opening of public first-come, first-served registrations. (April 2002)
During the Sunrise period, owners of existing or pending U.S. trademarks will be able to apply for .US domain names that correspond to their existing marks.
Holders of trademarks that have been registered or applied for as of July 27, 2001 with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) will be eligible to apply for .US domain names through Tucows.
Note: No common law, state, or international trademarks will be processed during the .US Sunrise period. Any domain registrations that do not exactly match trademarks in the PTO database must be submitted separately and processed once the .US Registry goes live in mid- to late-April, 2002.
